Our Pacific Northwest Chapter of European Train Enthusiasts (ETE) is one of approximately 21 regional chapters in the United States. We are a diverse group of model train enthusiasts; we cover all scales, all European railways, and our members range in age from 8 to 89. Our chapter covers Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon.
The following are some frequently asked questions:
- How many members does this chapter have and where do they live?
We have approximately 60 members, most of whom live in Washington and Oregon. - How many members do the European Train Enthusiasts have?
ETE has approximately 700 members nationwide. - Where/When are club meetings?
Due to the large territory covered by the chapter, regularly scheduled meetings are held via Zoom video conference. Our chapter meets approximately 5-6 times per year, usually on a specified Thursday evening at 7pm. Attendance is not required. - How are chapter communications handled, is there a forum?
We use Groups.io to host inter-chapter communications. It’s transparent and with no cost to you, all communications arrive in your email. - I don’t have a model railroad/don’t model H0 scale. Is there room for me?
We respect and support every member’s interest in European trains, whether it’s modeling, collecting, general interest, prototype railways, etc. - What is your club environment like?
We actively promote respect, diversity and inclusion. - Is there a club modular layout? What shows can I expect to see the club attend?
We have a very active Modular Layout Group that displays our modular layout at the following train shows each year:- Lewis County Model Railroad Show and Swap Meet in Chehalis, WA (OCT)
- Train Festival at the Washington State History Museum (DEC)
- Great Train Show in Ridgefield, WA (JAN)
- Great Train Show in Puyallup, WA (JAN)
- Evergreen Train Show in Monroe, WA (FEB)
- Lewis County Model Railroad Show and Swap Meet, Chehalis, WA (APR)
- *** We are always looking for additional shows to attend, schedule permitting
- Are there club dues? How much and how often?
Our annual dues are $20.00 ($10.00 for national ETE, $10.00 for our Chapter). - Is there an in-person meeting outside of train shows?
We hold an annual BBQ every August. It’s a very fun event, during which we also hold a large swap meet and offer trains at very competitive prices. - Does the club have any affiliation with the National Model Railroaders Association (NMRA)?
The modular group is in the process of affiliating with National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) and actively supports NMRA’s goals to promote the model railroading hobby.
